Nigerian winger, Samuel Chukwueze featured against Lazio as AC Milan came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday, in a result that ended the hosts’ unbeaten start to the Serie A season.
AC Milan coach, Ruben Amorim played Chukwueze at right wing-back and the Nigerian was involved early when a delicate ball from Luka Modric picked him out for a header that Christos Mandas somehow kept out at the near post.
During the course of the game, Lazio grew into the game after that, going ahead through Matteo Cancellieri before Tijjani Noslin doubled the hosts’ lead, with Milan struggling to deal with crosses from the left in a sloppy first-half showing.
However, the introduction of Diego Moreira at the break changed the tempo of the game. The Belgian scored twice in the space of three minutes to level things up, the first a tight-angle volley off a Chukwueze assist and the second a fine strike from the edge of the box.
Chukwueze’s performance yesterday took his tally for the season to two assists. He had 1 clearance, 1 block shot, 10 recoveries 2 dribbled past.
After the game, Amorim explained that Chukwueze and Moreira were both used as attacking outlets on their respective flanks in the second half as Milan searched for a way back into the contest.
However, the draw leaves Milan unbeaten through four matches but without a win their last two matches. AC Milan coach, Amorim continues with his trademark mark formation 3-4-2-1, with Chukwueze playing and important role in the system. We will see how far this formation takes Milan in Italy, as he has previously used the same system that was criticised in Manchester United.
