Super Eagles star, Semi Ajayi was part of Hull City’s back line again on Saturday as the newly promoted side held Aston Villa goaless at the MKM Stadium.
The Tigers arrived unbeaten in the league, sitting third after wins over Manchester United and Coventry City, and had not conceded a single goal in either match. That momentum continued against a Villa side that badly needed a result. Unai Emery’s team came in off two straight defeats without scoring, and by full time they still had not found the net this season away from home comfort.
Ajayi’s part in that was straightforward but effective: he brought a classical and balance style to the back line and gave Villa’s attackers little room to work with in the box.

It is worth remembering that Ajayi already has a goal to his name this season in the opening match against Man Utd. That mix of an eye for goal and steady defending has made him one of the more reliable names in Leonid Slutsky’s back four.
