Super Eagles striker Akor Adams scored his first Serie A goal for Venezia as they suffered a 4-2 defeat to Fiorentina on Friday night.

Adams gave Venezia the perfect start when he opened the scoring in the 22nd minute at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo.

The Nigerian forward found space inside the box before finishing past Fiorentina goalkeeper David de Gea to put the home side ahead.

It was an important moment for Adams, who was looking for his first league goal since joining Venezia.

However, Venezia could not hold on to their advantage. Fiorentina responded strongly before the break, with Franco Mastantuono scoring twice in quick succession to turn the game around.

Matias Pellegrino then extended Fiorentina’s lead after the restart before Mastantuono completed his hat trick in the second half.

Venezia managed to reduce the deficit through Antoine Hainaut late in the game, but Fiorentina held on to claim a 4-2 victory.

The goal offers a positive moment despite the disappointing result for Venezia.

The striker has become an important part of Nigeria’s plans in recent months and will hope his first Serie A goal can lead to more regular scoring.

Adams arrived in Italy after previously playing in France and Spain, where he gained valuable experience before making the move to Venezia.

His goal against Fiorentina also showed the kind of threat he can provide when given space around the penalty area.

Venezia will now look to respond in their next league fixture, while Adams will be hoping to build on this performance and add more goals to his Serie A tally.
