Super Eagles defender Emmanuel Fernandez says his partnership with Rangers teammate Olwethu Makhanya is getting stronger with every game.

The Nigerian centre-back spoke after Rangers continued their recent improvement in the Scottish Premiership, with the team enjoying a solid defensive run in recent matches. Fernandez believes there is still more to come from the defensive partnership despite the positive results already achieved.

Rangers have won three league matches in a row and kept two clean sheets during that period. The improvement has boosted confidence within the squad after a difficult start to the season.

Fernandez said he has enjoyed playing alongside Makhanya and believes both defenders are understanding each other better as they spend more time together on the pitch. He added that adapting to new teammates is part of football and that strong relationships are important for any successful defence.

The defender also praised the team’s response to earlier setbacks, saying the squad became more united after disappointing results in Europe. According to him, the players held discussions among themselves and focused on improving performances in domestic competitions.

Makhanya joined Rangers during the summer transfer window and has quickly become an important member of the squad. The South African defender has received praise for his calm displays and solid defensive performances since arriving at the club.

Fernandez believes Rangers are moving in the right direction and says the recent clean sheets show the hard work being done by the team.

With confidence growing and results improving, the former Peterborough United defender will hope Rangers can continue their winning run and build a strong defensive record as the season progresses. The Nigerian international is expected to remain a key figure in the club’s plans as they push for success in domestic competitions.
