Nigerian winger David Akintola has completed a return to AC Omonia after ending his stay at Hull City.

Hull City confirmed that both parties agreed to terminate his contract, allowing the attacker to complete a permanent move to the Cypriot club. The move brings Akintola back to familiar surroundings after previous spells in Cyprus.

Akintola joined Hull City with hopes of making an impact in English football, but opportunities were limited and he struggled to establish himself as a regular starter.

With playing time difficult to come by, the decision was made for the player and the club to go their separate ways before the transfer window closed.

The move to AC Omonia offers the Nigerian winger a fresh opportunity to revive his career. The club remains one of the biggest teams in Cyprus and regularly competes for domestic honours as well as places in European competitions.

Akintola is expected to add pace, creativity and experience to the squad. His ability to play on either wing and create chances for teammates could make him an important player for Omonia this season.

The transfer is also a chance to return to an environment where he is already familiar with the league and its demands.

The 29-year-old will now focus on settling quickly and helping his new club achieve its goals for the campaign.

Nigerian fans will be hoping the move helps him rediscover his best form and put himself back in contention for future opportunities at the international level.

After a difficult spell in England, Akintola now begins a new chapter in Cyprus, where he will look to get regular football and remind everyone of the qualities that made him one of Nigeria’s exciting attacking talents.
