Kelechi Iheanacho continued his remarkable start to life in Turkey on Monday night, scoring twice to lead Bursaspor to a 2-1 comeback victory over Manisa FK in the Turkish 1. Lig.
Bursaspor fell behind in the 20th minute when Cheikne Sylla opened the scoring for the home side, but Iheanacho quickly restored parity seven minutes later.
The Nigerian striker picked up the ball around the edge of the penalty area, worked his way past several defenders and fired a low effort into the bottom corner.
He was not finished there.
With the game heading towards a draw, Iheanacho struck again in the second minute of stoppage time. He reacted quickest after a mistake from Manisa goalkeeper Vedat Karakuş and calmly finished from close range to complete the comeback.
The victory maintained Bursaspor’s unbeaten start to the campaign and moved them onto 15 points after six league matches.
The night was another reminder of the form that has made him one of the standout players in the Turkish second tier this season.
The former Leicester City and Celtic forward has now scored in all six of his league appearances for Bursaspor.
His latest brace takes his tally to eight goals in six matches, while he has also provided two assists.
Iheanacho joined Bursaspor during the summer after leaving Celtic and has wasted little time settling into his new surroundings.
His goals have also played a major role in Bursaspor’s strong start as the club targets a return to Turkey’s top flight.
With six consecutive games on the scoresheet, Iheanacho is rapidly becoming one of the most dangerous forwards in the division.
