Coventry City boss Frank Lampard has singled out Frank Onyeka for praise after the midfielder’s impact since arriving at the club.
Onyeka joined the Sky Blues from Brentford FC in January and it didn’t take long for him to settle in.
The 28-year-old has added steel and balance to Coventry’s midfield, chipping in with a goal and an assist in 14 league appearances while doing the less glamorous work in the middle of the park.

“Frank has been brilliant. He was a profile of a player we needed in that moment and he’s come in and given us everything we need, which has really helped the balance of our midfield with what Grimesy does and whoever plays in that 10, how they play,” Lampard told talkSPORT
The other thing he (Onyeka) has offered is an incredible humility and work ethic,” added Lampard.
“He’s come in and just breezed into the squad and the dressing room and he’s come down from the Premier League as an international player and he is so humble.
“I love that and it’s good for some of our players to see what that looks like.”
Since coming in, Onyeka has given Coventry more control in games. He covers ground, breaks up play and keeps things simple on the ball the kind of presence every team needs, especially in tight matches.
His experience from the Premier League has also shown. He reads the game well and knows when to slow things down or push forward, something that has helped the team in crucial moments.
For Coventry, the push for promotion has not been straightforward. It’s been a tough run, with pressure games week in, week out. But players like Onyeka have helped steady things when it mattered most.
