Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke could be on the move again this summer, with Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen reportedly showing strong interest in signing the Super Eagles star from Sevilla.

The 28-year-old endured a difficult campaign in Spain as Sevilla battled through one of their worst seasons in recent years. Despite making 29 La Liga appearances, Ejuke managed just one goal and one assist, struggling to establish himself as a key figure in the squad.

However, his quality and experience have not gone unnoticed.

According to reports from Spain, Bayer Leverkusen are currently leading the race for the Nigerian international’s signature, although several Premier League clubs are also monitoring the situation closely ahead of the transfer window.

Chidera Ejuka in action for Sevilla

Leverkusen, who have become one of Germany’s most exciting teams in recent seasons, are believed to be looking to strengthen their attacking options and see Ejuke as a player capable of adding pace, creativity, and directness on the flanks.

The former CSKA Moscow winger joined Sevilla on a free transfer in 2024 but has only one year remaining on his current deal. With Sevilla under financial pressure and keen to comply with La Liga’s financial regulations, the club may be forced to cash in on several players this summer.

Chidera Ejuke

Transfermarkt currently values Ejuke at around €4 million, making him an affordable option for clubs seeking an experienced winger with top-level European football experience.

Sevilla’s disappointing 2025/26 campaign saw the club finish just above the relegation zone in 17th place, prompting a major squad review. Player sales are expected to play a crucial role in rebuilding the team ahead of next season.

Interestingly, Ejuke is not the only Nigerian linked with an exit from the Andalusian club. Fellow Super Eagles forward Akor Adams has also been tipped to leave as Sevilla seek to generate funds and reshape their squad.

For Ejuke, a move to Bayer Leverkusen could offer an opportunity to revive his career at a club competing regularly for domestic honours and European football.

As the summer transfer window approaches, the future of the Super Eagles winger is shaping up to be one of the stories Nigerian football fans will be watching closely.
