Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has added another individual honour to an outstanding campaign after winning the Turkish Süper Lig Goal of the Season award.

The Trabzonspor forward earned the recognition for his spectacular scissor-kick finish in a 4-2 victory over Fatih Karagümrük last September.

The goal, which had already been voted Goal of the Month for September, quickly became one of the standout moments of the Turkish football season. Despite standing at 2.01 metres, Onuachu showed remarkable athleticism to connect with the ball in mid-air and fire home an acrobatic effort that left fans and pundits in awe.

The Nigerian beat strong competition from Fenerbahçe’s Marco Asensio and Beşiktaş midfielder Orkun Kökçü to claim the award.

It is the latest reward for a season in which the 31-year-old consistently delivered for Trabzonspor.

Onuachu finished the 2025/26 Turkish Süper Lig campaign as joint-top scorer with 22 goals, sharing the Golden Boot with İstanbul Başakşehir striker Eldor Shomurodov.

His achievement also secured a place in Trabzonspor’s history books, as he became only the sixth player to finish a season as the club’s top scorer in the Turkish top flight.

Across all competitions, Onuachu registered 26 goals and two assists in 43 appearances, playing a central role in Trabzonspor’s push for a strong finish domestically.

More importantly, his goals often came when the team needed them most. Whether with his head, his feet or moments of individual brilliance, the Nigerian proved to be one of the most reliable forwards in Turkish football this season.

After returning to Trabzonspor and quickly settling back into life in Turkey, Onuachu has once again reminded everyone why he remains one of Nigeria’s most dependable strikers.

With the Goal of the Season award now added to his collection, the former Genk and Southampton forward can look back on a campaign that combined spectacular moments with consistent end product.

For Onuachu, it was a season to remember. For Trabzonspor supporters, it was another year of watching a striker who continues to deliver when it matters most.
