Former Paris Saint-Germain defender and ex-Super Eagles star, Godwin Okpara, has revealed why he believes Victor Osimhen should prioritize a move to Manchester United if he decides to leave Galatasaray this summer.

Victor  Osimhen

Osimhen remains one of the hottest properties in European football. The Nigerian striker has enjoyed a sensational spell in Turkey, scoring 59 goals in 74 appearances across all competitions and helping Galatasaray win three major trophies since his arrival from Napoli.

Despite his impressive performances and public commitment to Galatasaray, speculation surrounding his future continues to dominate transfer headlines. Several top European clubs are monitoring the 27-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window, with Manchester United reportedly leading the race for his signature.

Speaking on Osimhen’s future, Okpara believes a move to Old Trafford would offer the Super Eagles striker the perfect platform to showcase his talent on one of football’s biggest stages.

“Manchester United remains one of the biggest clubs in the world despite their recent struggles,” Okpara said.

“Osimhen has already proven himself in Italy and Turkey. The Premier League is the next challenge, and I believe Manchester United can provide him with the opportunity to become a global superstar.”

The former PSG defender also pointed to United’s need for a reliable goalscorer as another reason why the move makes sense.

“Manchester United need a striker who can consistently score goals and lead the attack. Osimhen has shown over the years that he can deliver at the highest level. His work rate, physicality, and finishing ability would suit the Premier League.”

Reports suggest that United manager, Micheal  Carrick is keen to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the new season following the club’s return to the UEFA Champions League. With questions surrounding the long-term futures of some of the club’s forwards, Osimhen has emerged as a top target.

However, convincing Galatasaray to part with their star striker may not be straightforward. The Turkish champions are eager to keep Osimhen and are under no immediate pressure to sell, with the Nigerian international contracted until 2029.

Nevertheless, a significant offer from a European heavyweight could change the situation, especially if Osimhen decides he is ready for a fresh challenge.

For now, the striker’s immediate focus remains on his recovery and preparations for the new season after missing Nigeria’s Unity Cup triumph and being ruled out of upcoming international friendlies against Poland and Portugal.

As the transfer window approaches, all eyes will remain on Victor Osimhen, with Manchester United, Galatasaray, and several European giants waiting to discover where one of Africa’s most lethal strikers will play next season.
