Sevilla Crisis: Akor Adams’ Season Takes a Twist

Despite Adams being introduced as a late substitute during Sevilla  against  Osasuna, he had limited opportunity to influence the game after coming on in the closing stages.

Akor Adams, the Super Eagles striker is among  Sevilla’s top scorer this season, but has seen his minutes drop under new coach Luis García. For Adams, this campaign has been a mix of promise and frustration. Earlier in the season, he was one of Sevilla’s most reliable attacking outlets, stepping up in big moments and playing a key role in important wins, including results against Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona before the October international break.

But recently, things have changed.

Since the managerial switch, Adams has found himself spending more time on the bench than on the pitch. From being a regular starter, he is now being used sparingly, often coming on late when the game is already tight and difficult to influence. For a striker, that kind of situation is not the easiest you need minutes, you need rhythm and you need trust.

Sevilla as a team have also struggled for consistency and that has not helped matters. One game they look sharp, the next game everything just falls apart. In that kind of setup, attackers usually suffer the most.

Still, Adams has already shown enough this season to prove his quality. Being among  the club’s top scorer at this stage is not by luck. It shows he can deliver when given the right support and enough time on the pitch.

Going forward, the big question is whether  Luis García  will give him a proper run of games again or continue with the current rotation. Either way, Adams will have to stay ready.

Because in football, things can change quickly. One good performance, one big goal  and you’re back in the spotlight.
