Super Eagles-eligible midfielder David Ozoh has confirmed he will be leaving Derby County, bringing an end to his loan spell just as the club prepares to release its retained and released list.

The 20-year-old, who spent the last two seasons at Pride Park, made his intentions clear in a heartfelt message that strongly suggests his time with the Rams is over. Ozoh described his stint at Derby as “unforgettable,” thanking the club and supporters for their backing during his stay.

His departure does not come as a major surprise. The midfielder is on the books of Crystal Palace and is expected to return to Selhurst Park following the conclusion of his loan deal. Reports in England indicate the message shared by Ozoh points toward a fresh chapter away from Derby rather than an extended stay.

Ozoh’s time in the Championship helped his development significantly, with the youngster becoming a regular figure in midfield and earning praise for his composure and versatility. Across his spell, he built a reputation as one of the more promising young midfielders outside the Premier League.

Beyond club football, the Valencia-born prospect remains firmly on Nigeria’s radar. He is currently in the process of switching his international allegiance and is awaiting final clearance to represent the Super Eagles, having previously featured for England at youth level.

With his Derby chapter now seemingly closed, attention will shift to what comes next. A return to Crystal Palace appears the most immediate step, but his long-term future could depend on opportunities for regular first-team football.

For Nigeria, however, his situation will be closely monitored. If cleared in time, Ozoh could soon become part of the next wave of midfield talent pushing to make an impact at senior international level.
