Former Atalanta BC midfielder Michel Adopo is confident Ademola Lookman will make the difference when Atlético Madrid face Arsenal FC in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final.
The tie is still open after a 1-1 draw in the first leg and attention is already shifting to the return fixture at the Emirates Stadium.
For Adopo, it’s simple Lookman is the kind of player built for moments like this.
Having played alongside him in Bergamo, he knows what the Nigerian forward can do on a big night, especially when there’s space to attack and defenders to run at.
“After the triumph, I remember that Ademola himself didn’t understand the importance of his performance,” the 25-year-old said an interview with The Sun.
“Atletico is an amazing opportunity for Ademola. Finally, he is at a giant club.
“I actually believe he will score against Arsenal.” Michel Adopo concluded.
Lookman has been growing into his role since making the move to Spain. His direct style, confidence on the ball, and eye for goal have already made him one of the players defenders are wary of.
Against Arsenal, those qualities will be needed.
The English side are organised and don’t give much away, so chances may be limited. But games like this often come down to moments one run, one touch, one finish.
That’s where Lookman comes in.
