Nigeria Super Eagles Team

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have slipped one place to 44th in the latest FIFA men’s world rankings released on Thursday. The drop follows a series of mixed results, including draws and victories during their recent World Cup qualifying matches.

Despite falling slightly on the global list, Nigeria remains fifth in Africa, behind Morocco in 12th place, Senegal in 18th, Egypt in 34th, and Algeria in 36th. The Super Eagles still hold a comfortable lead over regional rivals Ghana, who are ranked 76th, and South Africa, who sit 56th.

This latest ranking reflects performances such as the 1-1 draw against Russia in Moscow and their successful run at the Unity Cup in London under new head coach Eric Chelle.

On the world stage, Argentina retained the top spot, followed by Spain in second and France in third. Nigeria will have a chance to improve its position during the next round of 2026 World Cup qualifiers in September.
