Super Eagles Captain Debunks Reports of Special Demands from Squad

Nigeria’s Super Eagles captain, William Troost‑Ekong, has firmly denied claims that the squad issued “special demands” ahead of this month’s CAF World Cup playoff campaign. In a clear statement released on X, Ekong explained that the players are only seeking what is owed rather than extra perks.

“We did not make special demands,” Ekong stressed. He clarified that the focus is simply on clearing the outstanding allowances owed to players.
“We only asked for what we have earned and what was promised.”

His explanation comes amid swirling media reports that suggested the national team had conditioned training camp participation on increased bonuses. Ekong called those stories “inaccurate” and emphasised unity.

“There is no divide in the house. We are focused. We move as one.”

Nigeria will soon face one of the toughest tests of their current campaign in the CAF World Cup playoffs. With the drama of finances and form off the field, Ekong said the players remain committed to the task ahead.

“Our attention is on the games, not distractions. We are ready to give everything on the pitch.”

This clarification is expected to ease concerns around internal squad issues, giving the coaching staff space to refocus on preparation as the Super Eagles aim to secure a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Once resolution is found we will be the first to confirm.

Any other statement/claim or eSPECIALly demands other than the rightful request written about below is FALSE.

All we want and continue to do is focus on the big games ahead. https://t.co/093Naixfl3
