Paul Onuachu continued his fine start to the season with his seventh Süper Lig goal as Trabzonspor edged Çaykur Rizespor 2–1 at the Çaykur Didi Stadium on Earlier today. The Nigerian striker rose to meet a deep cross and power home the visitors’ second goal, cancelling out Rizespor’s lone reply and helping his side take all three points.
The game exploded into life inside the opening minutes when Felipe Augusto gave Trabzonspor the lead in the second minute with a lightning finish from close range. Onuachu then doubled the lead in the 19th minute with a trademark header after good wing play, before Jesurun Rak-Sakyi pulled one back for Rizespor in the 27th minute to set up a nervy finish. Trabzonspor held on to secure a valuable away win.

Onuachu’s strike takes his league tally to seven this term and continues his good run of form that made him one of the league’s most dangerous centre-forwards. His presence in the box and ability to convert crosses has been a major factor in Trabzonspor’s positive start to the campaign.
Tactically, Trabzonspor looked dangerous on the break and effective from set pieces. Rizespor, who responded well after going 2–0 down, could not find the equaliser late despite pressing hard in the final quarter. The result moves Trabzonspor up the table as they aim to keep the pressure on the league leaders.
