Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has moved to calm growing speculation surrounding his future after fresh reports linked him with a summer transfer to Chelsea.

The Nigerian international has become one of the most talked-about names ahead of the transfer window following comments made by Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle regarding his absence from Nigeria’s upcoming friendly matches.

Chelle had suggested that Osimhen was unavailable because of a possible club move, a statement that immediately triggered renewed transfer rumours across Europe. Chelsea were among the clubs heavily mentioned as the Premier League side continue their search for a proven goalscorer ahead of next season.

However, Osimhen has now publicly clarified the situation, insisting that his coach’s remarks were misunderstood and taken out of context.

The 27-year-old explained that there is no disagreement between himself and Chelle, while also stressing that the comments should not be interpreted as confirmation of an imminent departure from Galatasaray.

His statement arrives at a time when interest in his services remains high across Europe. Chelsea have continued to be linked with the prolific forward, while several other elite clubs are believed to be monitoring his situation closely. Reports in recent weeks have suggested that representatives connected to the striker have held exploratory discussions with a number of top European sides ahead of the summer transfer window.

Osimhen remains one of the most valuable players in Turkish football after completing a record-breaking move to Galatasaray. Since arriving in Istanbul, the former Napoli star has established himself as one of the club’s most influential players, helping the Turkish giants compete domestically and in Europe while continuing his impressive goalscoring form.

Despite the persistent transfer rumours, Galatasaray have repeatedly shown their desire to keep hold of the Nigerian striker. Club president Dursun Özbek recently made it clear that the Turkish champions are not actively looking to sell their star forward, even amid interest from clubs across England, Spain and other major European leagues.

For now, Osimhen’s immediate focus appears to be on maintaining his strong relationship with both Galatasaray and the Nigerian national team setup. Nevertheless, with Chelsea and several European heavyweights still monitoring developments, speculation surrounding one of Africa’s most sought-after forwards is unlikely to disappear anytime soon.
