Chelle Eyes In-Form Millwall Star as Super Eagles Recruitment Drive Intensifies

Eric Chelle is widening his search for fresh attacking options, with the Super Eagles boss now closely monitoring Femi Azeez ahead of a potential international call-up.

The Millwall forward has emerged as one of the standout names under consideration as Nigeria steps up efforts to secure dual-national talents. Born in England to a Nigerian father and Spanish mother, Azeez remains eligible to represent three countries, placing him firmly on the radar of the national team setup.

Sources indicate that Chelle has been tracking the 24-year-old’s progress closely, particularly with the upcoming Unity Cup in London offering an opportunity to integrate new faces into the squad. The Franco-Malian tactician has already made it clear he intends to scout extensively across Europe for players of Nigerian descent who are yet to be capped.

Azeez’s performances this season have not gone unnoticed. The winger has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign, contributing 17 goal involvements in 33 league appearances while playing a key role in Millwall’s push for promotion. His form also earned him recognition in the EFL Championship Team of the Season, underlining his growing influence.

What strengthens Nigeria’s position is the player’s current international status. Unlike some other targets who are already tied to European nations, Azeez is yet to make a senior competitive appearance, leaving the door open for the Super Eagles to secure his commitment.

Chelle’s interest in the Millwall attacker reflects a broader shift in approach by the national team. Rather than relying solely on established stars, the coaching crew is actively identifying emerging talents who can inject pace, creativity and depth into the squad.

With the Unity Cup fast approaching, all eyes will be on whether Azeez receives his first call-up. If he does, it could mark the beginning of a new international chapter for the in-form forward and another successful addition to Nigeria’s growing pool of dual-national players.
