Nigerian legend Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha has earned global attention after a new ranking of the most skilful players in football history placed him above Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Neymar.

The ranking, driven by fans and football analysts, focused strictly on raw skill not trophies or goal records. Okocha was praised for his street-football creativity, unpredictable dribbles, and confidence on the ball, which often left defenders confused and crowds entertained.

Many fans argued that while Messi, Ronaldo, and Neymar are extraordinary players, Okocha’s flair and showmanship were on another level. His footwork, feints, and ability to improvise in tight spaces were key reasons he was placed so high on the list.

Clips of Okocha’s iconic moments from his Bundesliga dribbles to his PSG and Bolton highlights resurfaced online as fans celebrated the recognition, saying it was “long overdue.”

For many around the world, especially in Africa, this ranking simply confirms what they’ve always believed: when it comes to pure skill, JJ Okocha is in a category of his own.
