Fulham’s FA Cup campaign came to an abrupt end after a 1–0 defeat to Southampton at Craven Cottage, a result that also saw Nigerian players Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze and Calvin Bassey bow out of the competition.

Southampton held firm for most of the contest before snatching victory late in the game. The decisive moment arrived in stoppage time when Joachim Andersen brought down Finn Azaz inside the penalty area. Ross Stewart stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to seal the win for the visitors.

Samuel Chukwueze was the only Nigerian player in Fulham’s starting lineup for the match. Alex Iwobi began the game on the bench but was later introduced in the second half as Marco Silva’s side pushed forward in search of a goal. Calvin Bassey remained an unused substitute.

Fulham created several openings during the match but struggled to convert their chances against a well organised Southampton defence. The late penalty ultimately proved decisive, ending the London club’s hopes of progressing further in the FA Cup.
