Brentford defender Michael Kayode is set to hold talks with Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle over the possibility of representing Nigeria at senior international level.
According to reports, the meeting is expected to take place at the end of the season, with Chelle keen to convince the Italian-born defender to commit his international future to Nigeria.
Kayode, who was born in Italy to Nigerian parents, has represented Italy at various youth levels but is still eligible to switch allegiance since he has not been capped at senior level.
The 21 year old defender has reportedly received initial contact from the Super Eagles coach and his response has been described as encouraging, although he has not made a final decision yet.
Kayode is expected to review his international future after the season. If there is no progress regarding a potential call up from Italy’s senior national team by then, he could consider committing fully to Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Brentford defender is also attracting transfer interest ahead of the summer window, with Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly among clubs monitoring his situation.
