Several Super Eagles players were in action across Europe on Tuesday night, with Tolu Arokodare, Igoh Ogbu, Semi Ajayi and Ademola Lookman all making headlines for different reasons.
Arokodare produced a key moment for Wolverhampton Wanderers in their 2–1 Premier League victory over Liverpool. The Nigerian striker powered past Virgil van Dijk before setting up Rodrigo Gomes, who chipped Alisson to give Wolves the lead in the 78th minute. Wolves later sealed the win in stoppage time when André’s long range effort took a deflection off Joe Gomez and went in.
Elsewhere in the Czech Cup, defender Igoh Ogbu returned from injury for Slavia Prague and played more than 105 minutes against FK Jablonec. The match finished 1–1 after regulation time, with Slavia eventually losing 3–2 on penalties.
In England, Semi Ajayi was named in Hull City’s matchday squad for their Championship clash against Ipswich Town as he continues his recovery from the hamstring injury he suffered during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Ajayi did not feature in the match as Hull City fell to a 1–0 defeat, with Azor Matusiwa scoring the only goal.
Meanwhile, Ademola Lookman helped Atletico Madrid reach the Copa del Rey final despite a 3–0 defeat to Barcelona in the second leg at the Spotify Camp Nou. Atletico progressed because of their 4–0 first leg advantage, with Lookman playing 58 minutes before being substituted.
It was a busy night for Nigeria internationals across Europe, with assists, returns from injury and a cup final qualification highlighting their impact at club level.
