Following Nigeria’s disappointing failure to qualify for the World Cup, an experienced former Chelsea and AS Monaco director has been tipped as a strong candidate to help rebuild and reshape the country’s football structure.

Football stakeholders and analysts have pointed to the director’s proven track record in talent development, club restructuring, scouting, and long-term football planning areas many believe Nigeria urgently needs to improve.

Supporters of the idea argue that Nigeria’s football issues go beyond coaching decisions, highlighting deeper concerns such as poor talent management, weak developmental pathways, and inconsistent leadership within the federation. Bringing in a seasoned international administrator, they say, could introduce much-needed professionalism and modern football governance standards.

The unnamed director is said to have shown interest in contributing to African football projects in the past, and observers believe his expertise could help revive Nigeria’s systems from the grassroots up to the Super Eagles level.

As debates continue, many Nigerians are calling for a total overhaul of football administration, insisting that only experienced and visionary leadership can prevent another major setback like missing the World Cup.
