Nigeria’s national team head coach, Eric Chelle, could be dismissed from his role if the Super Eagles fail to secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the Rumoured replacement is former Interim Coach Austin Eguavon alongside Ladan Bosso as Assistant according to reports from multiple sources.

The Malian tactician, who took charge of the Super Eagles 10 months ago, has so far maintained an unbeaten record in eight matches since assuming the position. But, sources are now revealing that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has set World Cup qualification as a non-negotiable target, and failure to meet it would trigger his dismissal.

Chelle’s tenure has seen a mix of optimism and scrutiny, while the team has shown flashes of promise under his leadership, results in the ongoing World Cup qualifiers have left mamy supporters anxious. With Nigeria currently in a must-win situation heading into their remaining qualifying matches, pressure continues to mount on the 46-year-old coach.

The Super Eagles qualification fate remains uncertain, and with expectations soaring among Nigerian fans, Chelle will need nothing short of perfection and a miracle from other results in the coming fixtures to retain his job.
