Paris Saint-Germain produced one of the most breathtaking nights in UEFA Champions League history after edging Bayern Munich 5-4 in a chaotic semi-final first leg packed with drama, quality, and relentless attacking football.

In a game that had everything, it was Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembele who stole the spotlight, each netting twice to inspire PSG to a slender but crucial advantage heading into the return leg.

Bayern struck first at the Parc des Princes, with Harry Kane converting from the penalty spot early on. But any hopes of control quickly vanished as PSG responded with intensity and flair. Kvaratskhelia ignited the comeback before Joao Neves added another, while Dembele capped a frenetic first half with a penalty to give the hosts a 3-2 lead at the break.

The French champions returned from halftime with even greater purpose. Within minutes, Kvaratskhelia and Dembele struck again in quick succession, stretching the lead to 5-2 and leaving Bayern reeling.

Yet, true to their pedigree, Bayern refused to fold. Goals from Dayot Upamecano and Luis Diaz sparked a late resurgence that nearly completed an improbable comeback, ultimately reducing the deficit to a single goal and keeping the tie wide open.

The encounter, which produced a record nine goals for a Champions League semi-final, has already been described as one of the competition’s greatest modern classics.

Beyond the scoreline, it was the fearless attacking approach from both sides that defined the night. PSG’s fluid front line consistently stretched Bayern’s defence, with Dembele’s direct running and Kvaratskhelia’s composure in front of goal proving decisive.

Despite holding the advantage, PSG will know the job is far from done as the tie heads to Germany for the second leg. Bayern’s late surge served as a reminder of their firepower, setting up what promises to be another explosive chapter in this already unforgettable semi-final clash.
