Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika and former Nigeria U23 forward Promise David are among five nominees for the 2026 Ebony Shoe award in Belgium according to Sporza
The Ebony Shoe, known locally as the Ebbenhouten Schoen, is given every year to the best African player or player of African descent in the Belgian Pro League.

Onyedika, who plays for Club Brugge, has featured in 25 Jupiler Pro League matches this season.
Promise David, who is now cap-tied to Canada, was in brilliant form for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise before a hip injury cut his season short in February. He had scored 15 goals from 37 appearances across all competitions before the setback.

Both players also shone in the UEFA Champions League, netting two goals each before their respective clubs were eliminated from the competition.
The other nominees on the five-man shortlist are Zakaria El Ouahdi of Racing Genk, Parfait Guiagon of Charleroi, and Adem Zorgane of Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
Last year’s winner was Tolu Arokodare, and the duo will be hoping to follow a long line of Nigerian winners that includes Daniel Amokachi, Victor Ikpeba, Godwin Okpara, Celestine Babayaro, and Paul Onuachu.
The 35th edition of the award will be presented on Monday, May 4, at the Hotel Tangla in Brussels.
